The New York State Tax Department Issues New Tax Bulletin

Tax Department has recently issued a new Tax Bulletin regarding the
application of New York's sales tax to sales of certain personal services
in New York City. This new Tax Bulletin may be of interest to your

New for Appearance Enhancement and Barber Applicants & Licensees
April 14th, 2001 (Effective July 1st, 2011): Recent amendments to the General Business Law will impact the licensing terms for all Appearance Enhancement and Barber Operator and Business licenses. Currently, all Appearance Enhancement and Barber Operator and Business licenses are valid for a period of two years. As a result of these amendments, all Appearance Enhancement and Barber Operator and Business Licenses issued or renewed that will be effective on or after July 1, 2011 will be valid for four years. Accordingly, the fees will reflect a four-year term. You may view the new term and fee structure here.
